We have an opening for an Assistant Controller to join our growing accounting team!

This is a Remote position.

The Assistant Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations for our site network and ensure GAAP compliance. This role supports the Controller across financial close, technical accounting, internal controls, M&A, and audit readiness, while collaborating closely with operational teams across multiple research sites. The Assistant Controller also mentors accounting team members and serves as a bridge between operations, finance, and executive leadership. This role reports to the Controller, Sr. Director of Finance, and partners cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Operations.

Schedule:  Monday-Friday, Normal Business Hours 
Compensation:  $140k - $150k base salary + 15% annual bonus

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee accounting and reporting activities at newly acquired sites to ensure compliance with internal policies, GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support tracking of project budgets and expenditures; provide documentation for audits and tax compliance.
  • Support system enhancements, ERP optimization, and accounting automation initiatives.
  • Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Operations to align accounting with business goals.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clinical staff to gather and analyze financial data related to ongoing projects.
  • Work with Controller on M&A integrations; establish workflow for clean accounting hand-off to Directors post-integration; act as a key stakeholder for newly acquired sites.
  • Drive ASC 805 valuation work and data integration.
  • Lead tax and audit engagements with the Controller.
  • Develop standardized processes surrounding integration work within the month-end close cycle.
  • Represent Flourish Research in a professional and courteous manner (verbal, written, and in appearance) when interacting with all staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 7+ years in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
    • Experience with data migration, ERP implementations, and working with large data sets in Excel.
    • Accounting qualification or relevant work experience is preferable.
    • Experience with NetSuite and Power BI is a plus.
    • Experience in a start-up environment with agility and tolerance for ambiguity
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Effective communication with team members and stakeholders; excellent oral and written skills.
    • Proficient in NetSuite and Office 365; strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong problem-solving, risk assessment, and impact analysis abilities.
    • Demonstrated process-improvement experience.
    • Flexible; able to multitask and prioritize competing demands.
    • Able to think independently and influence when appropriate.
